Two good news: YAML Shop and YAML Builder
On February, 1st. the YAML Shop opened its doors. From now on, you can buy licenses and "ready to use" templates for several content management systems. At time international payment is possible only via invoice. International credit card payment will be available in 1 .. 2 weeks.
Second, the YAML Builder 1.0 beta1 was released on February, 2nd. It comes with a new designed user interface, many new features and complete (X)HTML/CSS code output. Its fully compatible with the Simple Project Example so that you can copy/paste all builder output directly into the appropriate files in the project folders. Have fun with the new release.
Most important new features:
- new clearly arranged user interface
- live preview of source code structure in a DOM tree
- new options (layout alignment, navigation, column dividers, graphical layout borders)
- Integration of JS expression to simulate min-/max-width in Internet Explorer 6
- auto-complete option for subtemplates
- better code quality (HTML) and full screenlayout in CSS output
- better compatibility with Simple Project Example
UPDATE [6.4.08]: After two months of beta testing, the final version 1.0 of the YAML Builder is online. Along with this update the Simple Project Example was slightly revised. In Version 1.0.3 now it contains all graphic files for the graphical layout border option as well as the minmax.js to allow min-/max-width or -heights in IE6. Now this project example contains all files that are needed by the builder.
YAML Builder Preview goes online
The YAML Builder comes as a preview version v0.3. The inspiration came from Yahoo’s YUI framework Grids Builder: in both, the Toolbox floats above the layout and can be freely moved about. Available features are:
- Choose a Doctype
- Choose the basic layout elements (#header, #footer, ...)
- Choose the number of content columns as well as preferred column order
- Set the layout and column widths
- Drag & Drop and nest both subtemplates and dummy content
- Display and output the complete code (XTHML markup and CSS)
- Switch between draft mode and preview of the finished layout
The YAML Builder should be completely functional in Firefox, IE7, Opera 9, and Safari 3. Safari 2.x still has a small problem with the tabs. A small bit of Flash is used to copy the code into the clipboard, but your standard Flash player should be fine with it in 99% of all cases. Please do give me your feedback (opinions, bugs, suggestions and feature requests) in the English YAML Builder Forum.
